Hello and Welcome!

“We are Luke and Tamara Soderstrom. We serve with the Navigator 20s in Colorado Springs.”
We’d love to connect with you! Check out the options below to make a connection.

Luke
Well, I know I’m not the most photogenic, but I hope you love my Hawaiian shirt. I serve with the 20s ministry across the Colorado Springs area. While my ministry tasks can be many, all of it is driven by my calling to serve God full-time in making disciple-makers for Him. Years ago, God brought to my attention how disturbed I was about how many Christians in our country lived their entire “faith life” with little vision of participating in the Kingdom of God and how low their understanding or true commitment to God’s word is. I felt compelled to join the full-time fight to see God’s people come more alive and to reach the ever-increasing population of people in America who have never known God. I strive to see students and young men liberated from lies they believe that control them and how they view God, to see them grow them become spiritually healthy, disciple-makers for Christ!

Tamara
I serve with The Navigators in human resources at the national headquarters. I serve the thousands of Navigator staff across the United States and the world, working in the background to keep administrative work together. I help to bless field staff to commit all their effort to make disciple makers of Christ.

Additionally, I help as a volunteer with the Navigators 20s with community bible study leadership and support.

We would love to connect with you! If any of the below options are convenient, drop us a line!

And, if you feel led to partner with us financially or in prayer, we have links for that too.

What My Work Looks Like

In my ministry job, no day looks the same as the last, but there are the same categories of what I do from week to week:

  1. Disciple Making Meetings (one-on-ones)
This makes up at least 60% of my work week. At any given time I have about 7 to 12 guys that I’m meeting with for Bible Study and coaching them in becoming a maker of Christ’s disciples, themselves! Navigator staff also help people in the realm of what I call “faith-life-coaching” (such as: helping people grow in specific areas like living in God’s hope each day rather and worldly despair, freedom from sexual brokenness, identifying lies that we believe about God, ourselves, and others and combatting those with the truth from Scripture, and growing spiritual disciplines.)

  2. Small Group Bible Studies
This makes up around 20% of my work week. There are a couple of small groups that I have started/helped run for the 20s to connect with faith-centered community, study God’s word, and grow in Biblical literacy. These are co-ed groups of 20s from around this city and often serve as a great point of contact for the grads involved with Nav 20s to invite newcomers to their local church (since “church shopping” is usually daunting to a new 20-something who has moved to town.)

  3. Personal Support Raising
As a field missions staff, I have to raise 100% of my income from people and churches who partner with us, financially on our support team. As time goes on, people go home to be with the Lord, people’s job situation falls through, prices change, the economy moves, and needs are different; so raising additional support is something that we take seriously so we can be fully devoted to serving God in our ministry. So every few years I have a funding season.
Also, we are always trying to grow in how well we communicate with those who support us! By email, letters, and more!

  4. Admin
With my background in computer science + graphic design, I usually serve as our ministry team’s IT personnel. I help to make our event flyers, social media content, tracking spreadsheets, city-wide communications with the 20s & students, etc.

  5. Special Projects
Many Navigator staff have their hand in a few projects such as summer training programs for students, leading workshop seminars about disciple-making, organizing overseas/domestic missions and service trips, developing disciple-making materials for a specific context, and more!
Currently, I am one of the designers and production managers for a disciple-making app called “Together”. If you haven’t heard me talk about this product that has helped hundreds of people encounter Jesus with Christians and non-Christians alike, let me know and I’d be happy to share more!

Newsletter Backlog

Over the years, we’ve experimented with a lot of newsletter formats. I hope you are encouraged by our stories of God’s work in our ministry, and entertained by our slow & ever-improving graphical formatting. (Some years had more letters than others.)
